The position Compliance Officer

As Compliance Officer, you’ll ensure that our trade operations comply with customs, ethical, and sustainability standards. From monitoring customs regulations to leading sustainability reporting, you help us do business responsibly – and stay one step ahead.

Trade and Customs Compliance

  • Ensure all import and export activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and international trade agreements;
  • Ensure compliance with the AEO regulations;
  • Monitor changes in trade laws and update company policies accordingly.
  • Handle classification of goods using Harmonized System (HS) codes;
  • Part of the internal audit team and participate in announced/ non-announced external audit for customs.

Sustainability

  • Ensure compliance with relevant labor standards, human rights principles, and ethical business practices (ISO 14001, Ecovadis, SMETA);
  • Oversee sustainability reporting and disclosure activities, including the preparation of sustainability reports, submissions to regulatory agencies, and participation in sustainability rankings and indices. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards;

Liaison and Communication

  • Communicate with government authorities, customs officials, and trade bodies;
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal departments regarding trade compliance (issues) and customs (import/export) related inquiries.

Training and Development

  • Train staff on internal compliance procedures;
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging trends in trade and customs.

We are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International business, or a related field;
  • Proven in-depth knowledge and/or experience in international trade compliance;
  • Deep understanding of sustainability standards and practices (ISO 14001, Ecovadis, SMETA)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.
